Over the Fence

This is a commissioned portrait that was painted for a former neighbor of mine. It was a gift and caused many a tear to flow when it was received. It is about 11"x30" acrylic on canvas.

Barney

Acrylic on Masonite
8"x10"
This is my cat Barney. He's a barn cat...get it? This cat loves to take long walks with us albeit always several paces behind. He talks the whole way and when we arrive back at the drive way he flops down under the mail box. Quite a character here on the farm.
This is my most recent pet portrait. Double clic on Barney to see more detail.

Pet Portrait

Pet portraits make a perfect gift for many occasions. I paint them in acrylic on Masonite. Here's how it works: you send me your really good photos...I paint the portrait and e-mail a picture for your approval...you send me a cheque or pay with PayPal and I mail you the finished portrait.
Response to my pet portraits has been overwhelming. They most often bring a tear to the eye of their recipients. It really is a thoughtful gift for someone you love or to remember your own pet with. Turn around time is about two to three weeks for these.

I love old hand tools and watching people work with them who know how to use them well; a skill I have yet to master.

Rose of Sharon

acrylic on board
6"x8"
$100
The Rose of Sharon is in full bloom. It's hard to believe that such a fragile looking plant can withstand our cold Ontario winters but it is doing great in it's third summer.

Things Change

Acrylic on Board
6"x8"
$100
I am constantly blown away by nature. How is a transformation from shell to solid stone even remotely possible. Fascinating!

Wild Apple

Wild Apple
6"x8"
acrylic on board
$100
A certain wild apple tree here on the farm drops its fruit early each year and the ground under it is a solid circle of red bringing to mind Robert Frost's poem "Unharvested" ....the scent of ripeness from over a wall......

Fresh Eggs

acrylic on board

$100
Our Plymouth Rock hens are getting old but they are still laying pretty well. I pulled these from my barn-coat pocket with a few reminders of where they came from.

Company's Coming

12"x30"

acrylic on canvas

not for sale

This painting is of a compilation of objects which belonged at one time to some of the women in my family tree. My mother used to say that if you spill sugar it means that company is coming. I think there is no doubt in this case.
